An all-day wearable butt plug with strong, rumbly sensations for both your prostate and perineum, smart app connectivity, game sync, and easy remote control from anywhere in the world? Surely, you’re dreaming.

Well, no. That’s exactly what the Lovense Edge 2 is. It’s on sale now for around $100 direct from Lovense at the time of writing, though you’ll also find it closer to the $140 RRP on Amazon and Lovehoney.

Design, Size, and Comfort

The Edge 2 is not a large toy, and if you like to feel properly stuffed, you may be disappointed. It’s less girthier than your average dildo, and once inserted, especially when it’s not actively vibrating, it’s easy to forget it’s even there. That might be exactly what you’re looking for.

It has a comfortable narrow neck and two bulbous insertable sections. The further bulb contains the internal motor, while the one closer to the base seems mainly there to help keep it anchored.

Uniquely, you can bend the toy at the neck to suit your body and better hit the prostate. The mechanism is strong enough to stay put, and you get roughly 90 degrees of adjustment, which is impressive. That said, at the most acute angle, it becomes much harder to insert. I found the midway point was the best balance, though I still preferred pairing it with a chastity belt or something similar to push it closer against the prostate.

It’s also worth noting that there’s no softness or squish to any part of the Edge 2. The vibrating parts and main body are rigid, with only a thin silicone layer over the top. That sounds like it might be uncomfortable, but in practice I found the opposite. The rigidity helps transfer more vibration power directly to the prostate and perineum, and if anything, it amplifies the sensation.

In terms of battery life, Lovense states you should get anywhere from 60 to 100 minutes of continuous use; it also has 120 hour standby, so you can leave it in, connected to the app, ready receive commands from a remote play partner or preset alarms. That lines up roughly with my experience; I needed to recharge after a week of intermittent use, with the longest usage being about 15 minutes continuous rumbling at a time.

Strong, Rumbly Vibes

The motors for both the internal and external stimulation are as strong as any vibrating butt plug toy I’ve tested. It’s the kind of rumbly vibration that travels through your body rather than just buzzing uselessly at the surface. For me, the internal vibes were the better of the two, but the real sweet spot is a blended wave from one motor to the other. That’s easy enough to do manually in the app, although weirdly there doesn’t seem to be a preset pattern that does exactly that.

That said, vibration alone probably isn’t going to bring you to orgasm unless you’re already trained to achieve orgasm anally. This is powerful, but it isn’t magic. In terms of raw vibe power, I’d put it somewhere around a mini wand, which is my usual benchmark. For a butt plug, that’s impressive. It’s not the strongest sensation I’ve ever had from an anal toy; that prize still goes to a tapping plug I found, which has more physical movement and a sort of lapping tongue action.

But in terms of pure vibration, the Edge 2 is one of the most powerful butt plugs I’ve come across. And that’s before we even get into the app control.

App Connectivity and Remote Play

One of the biggest attractions of a toy like this is that you can wear it discreetly. What you won’t be able to do is use it discreetly. It’s surprisingly loud, and if you’re sitting on a chair, expect that sound to be amplified. So “public play” is going to be limited to areas where you’re genuinely isolated, which you should really be doing anyway. Don’t play in public just because some idiot on TikTok made it look cheeky and harmless.

The app itself is simple enough for the basics. You get remote control, pattern creation, looping, and the ability to hold either motor at a specific level. The pink bar controls the internal prostate vibes, and the blue one controls the external perineum motor. For basic control, it’s brilliant. The Lovense app also offers an alarm mode, and given how comfortable the Edge 2 is for all-day and all-night wear, it’s certainly an interesting way to be woken up. You can either set an alarm yourself, or have it set by your play partner.

Where Lovense really nails it is long-distance play. Once you’ve added and approved your partner, you can easily start a live control session for each other’s toys. You can send patterns, set your Edge to vibrate with incoming messages, and if you like giving up control, there are options to automatically accept control requests, autoplay received patterns, and even auto-add alarms from your partner. The newest remote play feature is called Vow game. With this enabled, your session is framed as sub and dom. The dom creates tasks, the sub ticks them off when complete, and rewards are unlocked along the way. It’s a neat idea, and definitely more interesting than just “make toy buzz from far away.”

Games and Interactive Play

Most of the gaming modes in the Lovense app are typical casual mobile games with a sex toy bolted on. If you’ve ever wanted your butt plug to reward you every time you get a number right in Sudoku, congratulations, your oddly specific dream has arrived.

The other games are hit and miss. The Project Melody platformer is decent enough. It gives you a low buzz during most of the level, with intensity spikes when you collect items. That actually makes sense and feels good.

The aquatic breeding game, whose name I’ve already scrubbed from memory, does basically nothing until you take the explore action. Then you get a short vibration. But the meat of the game is somewhat boring and involves cracking open eggs, or something.

Overall, this section feels like a collection of toys-within-a-toy that might amuse you for five minutes. Some are designed only for certain Lovense toys, so they don’t do much with the Edge anyway. Other parts of the app, like the kegel training, don’t seem to connect to the toy at all, so I’m not really sure why they’re there beyond a general “sexual wellness” checkbox.

There’s also an AI chatbot which, after some tedious romancing, may eventually control your toy. I couldn’t tolerate the flirting simulator long enough to find out.

To be clear, the core app features are excellent: remote play, audio beat sync, and the pattern library. That’s where the Edge 2 shines. This other stuff is siloed into the App Gallery tab, so it’s easy to ignore.

Lovense AI Sync

Considering how much emphasis Lovense puts on AI Sync, I was surprised by how messy it feels. To use Lovense AI Sync, you need to download VibeMate, which is available for various platforms. In theory, it pulls content from supported websites, scans for your toy over Bluetooth, and uses an AI model to sync vibrations with whatever video is playing. In practice, after downloading the app, I was immediately greeted by the message that it’s being replaced by something called Fanberry PC. Clicking the Fanberry PC download link took me to the… VibeMate Chrome extension. The current app is apparently operational until November, sort of, but I couldn’t get much to work. Pornhub links opened a new tab and redirected to the homepage. The anime videos didn’t load at all. Maybe that’s a regional block, because the UK government is currently trying to ban everything except gardening (and even that’s highly regulated so you don’t have too much fun). But for whatever reason, the whole AI Sync experience felt like a frustrating washout.

Eventually, I did get it working, but everything points toward a browser plugin that watches the websites you visit, and even then you need to download a separate app from inside the browser plugin to make Lovense AI Sync work.

And after all that, it’s a bit rubbish. I tried a few videos, and the vibration had very little to do with what was happening on screen. These weren’t obscure art-house productions either. Just standard in-and-out action. If an AI model can’t work out what to do with that, I remain skeptical.

My advice is to skip AI Sync entirely and use scripted video, direct game integrations, or Buttplug.io with the Intiface app. Scripted video is similar in concept to AI sync, except it’s not trying to analyze the video on the fly. Instead, a pre-made script tells the toy exactly what to do and when. You can use a subscription site like SexLikeReal or offline video players, and the results are much better matched to the action. I’ll do a tutorial on that another time, because when used this way, the Edge 2 reacts far more intuitively. Just note that you still need the smartphone app or a Bluetooth dongle in your computer, because the Edge 2 doesn’t have Wi-Fi. It’s Bluetooth controlled only.

Unfortunately, it isn’t natively compatible with Pornhub. You need to use the AI Sync feature for that and, well, we’ve talked about that.

Is the Lovense Edge 2 Worth It?

As a smart, interactive, powerful dual-motor vibrating butt plug for remote or synced play, absolutely. The Lovense Edge 2 is about as powerful as you’ll get from a vibrating plug, and the interactive features can be genuinely fun, though it may take a while to explore the app and find what you actually enjoy. Simple app-based remote control and partner-connected play are easy. Video syncing and interactive gaming are not. If you want to get the most out of that side of it, you may need to get a little geeky.

The Edge 2 is easy to insert, comfortable for long-term wear, and the adjustable angle really is a highlight feature. I can’t fault the hardware. It’s fantastic. The software side just needs polish, simplification, and maybe a flamethrower taken to the unnecessary bits.
