For some reason, I’ve never reviewed a grinder before, which feels like a shocking oversight. And I’m not just breaking the seal, I’m going in teeth-first. Meet the Maw Grinder from Uncover Creations, a gloriously monstrous slab of silicone made by two friends in the UK who are pouring out filth one lovingly handcrafted, fully customizable sex toy at a time.
This is The Maw.

What Even is a Grinder?
A grinder is a toy made for external stimulation. Instead of thrusting, the idea is to grind against it. It’s got a flatter base, usually with some curve or texture on top; something to rub against. It’s for pressure play. Hands-free, bodyweight-powered pleasure. Perfect if you’re someone who prefers a good grind over deep penetration. Also excellent for edging and teasing. No need to hold anything, no awkward angles. Just mount up and move.
Some grinders, like the Maw, come with a protrusion you can use for penetration if you want, but there’s no set play style. Experiment, and do what feels good. Try it the other way around. Let that tongue tease your rear instead.
What really makes the Maw stand out, though, are the side attachment points. These let you strap it down to a pillow, a wedge, or if you’re feeling especially evil, to someone’s thigh. Tying your sub’s arms behind their back, gagging them, then instructing them to grind themselves to orgasm on your leg is an experience I highly recommend.

And while the attachment points look delicate, like maybe they’d rip if you really went for it, mine haven’t shown a hint of stress. The silicone is stronger than it looks. Which is just as well, because once you get going on this thing, you won’t be treating it gently.

Grinders are more versatile than they get credit for, too. You can tuck one in your panties and wear it. You can lie face down and hump it. You can ride it on your knees. Or you can grab it with both hands and do something wonderful in the bath. They’re just such good toys for people who love pressure and rhythm.
The Uncover Creations Backstory
If you’ve found yourself clicking through the Uncover Creations site and thinking, “Hang on, haven’t I seen that toy before?” you’re not going mad. There’s a reason some of the designs feel a bit Sinnovator-esque; because they are.
The folks behind Uncover Creations were actually the original founders of Sinnovator brand while working for another company, and since that company has gone under, they were able to bring it back in house, which means yes, some of those familiar molds are now living a double life across both platforms. So don’t be surprised when you see familiar designs.
The Maw: Design and Texture
Design-wise, the Maw is a thing of beauty and horror. It’s shaped like a beastly, snarling mouth, with full lips, teeth, gums, and a thick tongue that juts forward, daring you to ride it. Measuring 7.5 inches long by 5.5 inches wide, the tongue has about 2.5 inches to insert, and is ridged; not subtly either, you’ll feel them. They add a lovely amount of friction and rhythm to the grind.

Above the tongue, you’ve got the upper lip and fangs. This is where your clit will be landing most of the time. It’s textured and bumpy in the best way, giving you both pressure and detail to work with.
The base is shaped like a padded coffin, which somehow makes it feel even filthier. It’s thick, stable, and soft enough to squish into whatever you strap it to, but solid enough to stay in place when you throw your weight around. It doesn’t slide all over the place unless you want it to.

Another optional upgrade is a bullet vibe hole and a suitable remote control bullet, which obviously takes the whole experience to the next level. The only thing I would say about this is that because the bullet hole is sort of tucked up and in, it’s bloody awkward to get the damn thing out. Or if there is a knack, I haven’t found it yet. The vibes are reasonably rumbly, but it’s the icing on an already mind-blowing monstrous grinder cake.
Choose Your Own Adventure
What really sets Uncover Creations apart is the sheer amount of customization they offer.
First, you’ve got firmness options, with an actua guide that explains what those mysterious Shore numbers mean. It’s the most helpful I’ve seen from any indie toy maker.
Then we get to colour, and here’s where it goes from helpful to a little overwhelming. The amount of choice is ridiculous in the best way, but expect to spend a good amount of time changing your mind. That said, the little color selection menu is a bit of a visual mess, as half the options look the same on first glance. Again, click on the Colour Guide instead to open up the extensive real sample photos. That’ll give you a proper idea of what the finishes actually look like.
For this particular Maw, I went with a two-colour marble of neon pink and purple. It took me days to decide, because the choices are just so good, and there’s a very real danger you’ll end up paralyzed with indecision. If that’s you, take a peek at their TikTok; they show off a lot of color combos there, and it helped me massively.

You can also just say “fuck it” and let them surprise you. I tried that with another toy, and it turned out amazing. Or you can go for one of their trademark fade schemes, which look like the one in the store photos. You even get a few choices of strap colour, though I went for the basic black to blend in with our bondage furniture.

I used a UV light for many of the photos in this review because the pink lights up like radioactive candy. In normal daylight it’s a bit more muted — the marble blends more than pops — but it still looks lush.
The “Silky Smooth” Finish (Holy Fuck, What is this Wizardry?)
One of the customization options I’d never seen before was something called the “silky smooth” upgrade. It’s apparently a special matte texture that’s made with some kind of durian nut additive. Yes, nuts. Literal nuts. They do warn you not to get it if you have allergies, and they also mention it’ll add a slight nutty smell to the toy, and that’s no joke.

Obviously, I had to try it. And I am so glad I did, because this texture is incredible. I’ve never handled a silicone toy that feels like this. It’s soft, it’s matte, and it’s so smooth you can pretty much ride it dry. I catch myself just idly stroking it when I walk past because the texture is that good. It feels like skin that’s just slightly powdered. The closest comparison I can give you is the TPE material used in Fleshlight sleeves. It’s a velvety-soft, skin-like feel, but without the maintenance of a TPE stroker, because this is silicone. It’s body-safe. And yet somehow, it doesn’t feel like any other silicone toy I’ve ever used.
But it raises a question: why isn’t this more common? It feels like the kind of upgrade every company should be offering. I could only find one other niche manufacturer offering “matte finish” on their cock sleeves, and no mention of Durian. So is it a durability thing? Does it reduce lifespan? Does it make the toy harder to clean? Or is it just the allergy issue holding it back? I can’t find a solid answer, even after falling down a silicone geek rabbit hole. All I can say for sure is that it results in a duller, matte finish, with no gloss or tackiness. And it picks up way fewer hairs than standard silicone. That alone makes it worth it in my book.
The only catch … is the smell. I can’t quite place it. “Nutty” is technically accurate but doesn’t quite cover it. It’s subtle, not unpleasant, but distinct; a bit like playdoh. A month in, and it still smells the same. For me, it’s not a problem. Honestly, I’ve been known to lean in and take a sniff just for the hell of it. It’s… weirdly lickable. It’s good. But if you’re particularly scent-sensitive, this might not be a hard no.
Delivery
The Maw is a custom-made product, so it takes a bit of time, and frankly, I think they might be a bit overwhelmed with orders right now after going viral on TikTok. Ours took about a month from placing the order to getting it through the door. That’s not unusual for small-batch, made-to-order toy makers, and absolutely worth the wait, but if you’re used to Amazon Prime, it can be a bit disconcerting and make you think your order has been forgotten. Their quality control seems tight, even if they’re busy; no bubbles, no weird seams, just a beautifully finished slab of perversion.
Is the Maw Grinder Worth It?
If you’re the kind of person who gets off on pressure, texture, and the delicious freedom of hands-free grinding, then yes, absolutely, without hesitation. It’s built like a monster and behaves like one if you let it. The customization options are ridiculous. The matte finish is an absolute game-changer. The quality is spot-on.
The Maw doesn’t fuck around, and neither should you. Get the silky finish, strap it down, and get your sub to grind until their thighs burn and their brain goes quiet. You won’t regret it. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait while they plough through orders.
