Finally, a Sex Toy with Flair
Before we get started, I want to praise the retro-futuristic 70s American diner aesthetic—not only of the device itself, which feels like a swooshable spaceship or raygun in a gorgeous cherry red design—but that extends to the packaging, too. It’s rare to find a company that actually takes pride and care over details like that. Ultimately it doesn’t matter compared to the product performance, but they’ve put some real effort in here, and I wanted to call that out because it all looks amazing.

Let’s start with what’s in the box because there are a few attractive accessories. As well as the main thruster unit with a built-in cover to keep dust away, you’ll find both an adjustable handle—turning it into a gun shape—and a suction clamp adaptor switch screws into the base of the handle. There’s also the usual charging cable (USB-C), a remote control, and some leg straps. These enable completely hands-free use and also add a little bit of a bondage vibe to the playtime.

Although I love the box it comes in, I was also sent an optional storage case with a zipper combination lock. If this is your only toy or if you’re traveling with it, then that’s handy to prevent wandering hands from figuring out what it is. Of course, the case is completely generic without indicating what might be stored inside.

Red Rocket
On to the business side of things.
There are two components to talk about here. The first is the rotating knobs which provide some clitoral stimulation. I imagine these are designed to replicate the slow rubbing action of a finger. It’s not too intense; in fact, it’s a very muted sensation compared to the main action, but even stranger is that the vibration only goes to the thrusting shaft and not to this clitoral stim part.

The main shaft is coated with a thin layer of silicone and almost feels like a coiled spring (but isn’t). It’s brutal, unforgiving, and prescient of the fuck you’re about to get when you turn it on.

You’ll find a set of buttons on the ABS body for power (hold down for a few seconds for on or off), rotation (that’s the clitoral stimulation “nubs”), vibration, and warming (which makes it a little more pleasant to insert). The main power button also controls the thrusting action, with three speeds available: fast, really fast, and fucking superfast. The slim silver embellishments on either side of the main body aren’t just there for decoration either; press down on these to activate Turbo or “make me cum now!” mode, which whacks every function up to 11/10. That said, given how fast even the slowest mode of thrusting is (let’s call it an 8/10), Turbo mode seems a little superfluous.

One really interesting feature of the Qingnan #9 is the ability to hook up some compatible accessories to the two USB-C ports on the underside of the device. We were sent the Vibrating Nipple Clamps #2. Simply plug them in, and the standard vibe button also controls those.
How Does It Feel?
Let’s be absolutely clear: it does the job, and then some. I was surprised by how enjoyable it was; the sheer power and speed is intimidating, and I thought it might just be too intense. But for G-spot and P-spot stimulation, it’s incredible. Even compared to more expensive and powerful thrusting sex machines, it’s a much faster and more intense experience. Personally, I would have preferred an even more pronounced curve to the tip—allowing it to really lean into the g-spot stimulation superpower.
One aspect of the thrusting that slightly concerned me was that it appears to create a sharp cavity in the shaft when extended, which could act as a pinch point. After plenty of testing with my fingers in the name of science, I’m confident that’s not an issue though.

The vibrations are a little buzzy, but my bigger concern is that they’re only internal, with the motor situation at the tip of the main thrusting, and there’s no additional motor for clitoral stimulation. Speaking of which, the rotating nubs just didn’t do it for us.
The main issue is the fixed nature of where they’re positioned; we needed to push in deep just to make any connection at all, which meant turning off the thrusting. This isn’t a problem unique to the Qingnan thruster; anything with a fixed shaft and external stimulation suffers the same fate. The difference is that on your average rabbit vibe, the vibrating ears are long and flexible, accommodating some different body shapes. The rotating nubs aren’t, so there’s little wiggle room to get the right position. And even when it was in position, it’s a muted sensation. Considering how intense the main thruster is, it’s a curious choice.
Mounting Options
There are plenty of ways to use the Qingnan thruster included in the box. The first is the handle, allowing you or a partner to use it handheld. But the handle goes on the bottom, so if you’re grabbing it yourself, it’ll need to be upside down, with the clitoral stim in the wrong place entirely. Best to get a partner if you want to use it like that.

Then you’ve got an adjustable clamp, which screws into the base of the handle, given a wide degree of freedom to position it just right. It’s a small clamp though, and not so strong given the forces you might end up applying, so you may still need to grab it with your legs once inserted. We were sent a wipe-clean suction pad to test with, which I’d highly recommend for use with all kinds of toys!

The leg cuffs were the most fun option, we found, offering a truly hands-free operation and removing any concerns of it running away. The included straps are velcro, but you could easily replace them with some small belts if you wanted to lean into the bondage aspect.

Is the Qingnan #9 Thrusting Sex Machine for You?
There are a lot of generic thrusting dildos out there, but I think Qingnan has gone to extreme lengths to make this one stand out with a genuinely thoughtful design, set of accessories included, and additional features. It didn’t quite hit the mark on all fronts, particularly the external stimulation side of things, so I look forward to seeing the next version of this, but it might still be worth checking out for you if you love the sound of that intense internal G-spot stimulation.
It’s available now for around $200 from Kisssy.shop.
